By the numbers
This semester we have seen some wonderful growth in the club. Membership is up, class attendance is up, more girls are attending the club than ever before and more people are inviting their friends to try grappling out for the first time. All these signs are very encouraging.
To keep up with this growth, our exec team must grow as well to serve you guys better and enhance your experience. This is why we are expanding our exec team and letting you guys have a say in shaping the future of this club.
We have mats and we roll, what else is there?
We have some pretty exciting things in the pipeline.
- Competition Team
- Social events
- Adding more practice times
- Grappling gear (shirts, shorts & rash guards)
- and more
We Want You
If the prospect of things things get you excited, consider joining our exec team. We know the best ideas will probably not come from us. Let’s face it, the only reason we got the job is because we were at the front of the line.
If you are interested in becoming more involved, come talk to one of our execs during practice times or let us know via Facebook or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Shoot for the moon and if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.

Hope everyone had a great holiday break. For those who are visiting the site for the first time why not get a start on that new years resolution and start grappling. Loose that holiday weight. Get your alpha back on.

Our grappling club has really matured though out the last year. One sign of that is the number of club members who have gone on to train at other schools off campus. They credit the SFU Grappling Club as sparking their interests in the grappling arts.
As a result, many of or members have been training using the gi. So Friday will be our unofficial gi day. If you have a gi and want to roll with it after class, Friday is your day.
**SFU Grappling Club will remain focused on no gi and you do not need one to participate in our training times. **
As part of our latest promotional campaign, we have released a series of posters around campus yet? Let us know which one is your favorite.
Mike is our unofficial mascot. He is named after our first president Mike Chow who has since graduated. This is our way of remembering him. Click on the pictures for a full description.
SFU Grappling Club was well represented this semester during club days. Our table is located between the Maggie Benson Center and the Library. We’ve already had many people come by and express interest in the club. Looking forward to seeing all the new faces on the mat. Come by and meet the other members before your first class.
Our regular schedule resumes Friday Sept 16 11:30 – 1:30 in the Centeral Gym where the wrestling mats are.
